Stripe applies a percentage of the charge amount plus a fixed fee per successful transaction. The fee on one charge is amount × percentage + fixed fee; this calculator multiplies that by the number of charges to show your total fees and net payout.
It is total fees divided by gross volume, expressed as a percentage. Because of the fixed per-charge fee, smaller charges have a higher effective fee than larger ones, even at the same percentage rate.
