Frequently asked questions
Yes. The Word Mixer moves the letters you type and uses no word list, so it works with any language: accented letters, Cyrillic, Arabic, Hindi, Chinese, Japanese and even emoji. Letters that belong together, such as a letter with its accent marks, move as one unit. Your text is mixed as you typed it, apart from being changed to lowercase.
The seed is a short code, 8 letters and digits by default, that decides how the letters are mixed. The same text, options and seed always give the same result. The seed is kept in the link of the page and printed on the worksheet. Use Mix again for a new seed, or type one in to bring back a sheet you printed earlier.
Some words cannot change: one-letter words, words made of one repeated letter such as “aa”, and words where keeping the first and last letter in place leaves nothing to move. The tool tells you when that happens. Very rarely a word is left as it is because the search for another order stopped early; press Mix again to try another seed.
Choose Worksheet, then press Print worksheet. Only the sheet is printed, with the seed at the bottom, and the answer key starts on its own page. Untick the answer key option to print the puzzle page only. The tool mixes up to 100 words or 2,000 characters at a time and tells you when it leaves part of a longer text out.
