Frequently asked questions
Type or paste one row of letters per line. You can put spaces between the letters or leave them out, so “C A T” and “CAT” are the same row. Every row needs the same number of letters, and the grid can have up to 30 rows of 30 letters. Blank lines are skipped. Your grid and words stay in your browser; the page address keeps a copy after the # sign so you can reload or share it, and browsers do not send that part to a server.
Yes. The solver only compares the letters of your grid with the words you typed and uses no dictionary, so any language you can type works: Latin letters with accents, Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic, Hindi, Chinese, Japanese and more. A letter with its accents or marks counts as one cell. A grid in a right-to-left script such as Arabic is drawn from right to left, like a printed puzzle, and the directions are named as you see them.
All eight: left to right, right to left, top to bottom, bottom to top and the four diagonals. You can switch directions off, for example for a puzzle whose words only read right and down. A list can hold up to 100 different words. Repeats are ignored, anything beyond the limit is reported, and each word lists up to 100 places while the count shown stays exact.
Check the spelling in your list and the letters in the grid, because one typo in either hides a word. A phrase with spaces is searched without them, and any other character, such as a hyphen, must appear in the grid. Capital letters are ignored unless you turn that option off. Also make sure every direction the puzzle uses is switched on.
