The mean is the average: add all the values and divide by how many there are. The median is the middle value when the numbers are sorted (for an even count, it is the average of the two middle values). The mode is the value that appears most often. They can all differ for the same data set, especially when there are outliers.
A data set can be multi-modal. If two or more values tie for the highest frequency, the calculator lists all of them. If every value appears exactly once, there is no mode and the result says so.
The range is the difference between the largest and smallest values (maximum minus minimum). It is a simple measure of how spread out the data is.
Yes. Separate values with commas or spaces; decimals and negative numbers are both accepted. Anything that is not a valid number is ignored, so stray text or empty entries will not break the calculation.
