Frequently asked questions
Overtime pay equals your hourly rate multiplied by the overtime multiplier, multiplied by the number of overtime hours. For example, at $20 per hour with a 1.5x multiplier and 10 overtime hours, your overtime pay is 20 × 1.5 × 10 = $300. Your total pay adds that to your regular pay (rate × regular hours).
Time and a half means overtime is paid at 1.5 times the regular hourly rate, so enter 1.5 as the multiplier. "Double time" is twice the regular rate, so use 2. The right multiplier depends on your employer's policy and local labor laws.
That depends on your jurisdiction and contract. In many places, hours worked beyond 40 in a week are overtime, but daily thresholds and exemptions vary. Enter your regular hours and overtime hours separately so the tool can price each at the correct rate.
