Frequently asked questions
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser: your PNG is read, drawn to a canvas, and exported as JPG on your own device. The image is never sent anywhere.
JPG has no transparency channel, so transparent areas must be filled with a solid color. This tool flattens them onto the background color you pick (white by default) before exporting, which avoids the black backgrounds you get from naive converters. Choose a color that matches where you'll place the image.
JPG files are usually much smaller than PNG for photos and detailed images, so they load faster and are accepted by uploaders that reject PNG. The trade-off is that JPG is lossy and can't store transparency, so it's best for photographs rather than logos or screenshots with sharp edges and flat color.
Yes. Lower quality discards more detail and produces a smaller file; higher quality keeps more detail but a larger file. 92% is a good default that stays visually crisp. JPG is lossy, so re-saving repeatedly will gradually soften the image.
