About these tools
These word tools help with the letter puzzles and word games people play every day, and they all run in your browser. Unscramble a set of letters into words (use ? or * for blanks), find exact and multi-word anagrams, check whether a word is on the list, or fill in a pattern that has missing letters. For 5-letter guessing games there is a solver that follows your guesses across up to eight boards at once, with further helpers for letter grids, word-search grids, circled-letter puzzles and center-letter pangrams. A random word generator and a letter mixer that makes printable worksheets round out the set.
The tools use open word lists rather than the official dictionary of any particular game, so a word can be accepted here and refused by a game, or the other way round. They list words only, with no definitions. Your letters, patterns and guesses are processed on your device and never sent to a server; the page only downloads the word-list files for the language and word lengths you pick. Word lists cover English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese, Russian and Arabic, and each tool starts with your interface language when it is one of these and with English otherwise. There is no account, no sign-up and nothing to install.
Frequently asked questions
No. Searching, filtering and solving all happen in your browser, so your letters, patterns and guesses stay on your device. To search, the page downloads open word-list files for the language and word lengths you choose; those file requests show only which language and lengths you picked, never your letters.
Not necessarily. The tools use open word lists, not the official or tournament dictionary of any game, so a word may be accepted by a game but missing here, or listed here but refused by the game. If an exact ruling matters, check the rules and dictionary of the game itself.
Word lists are available for English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese, Russian and Arabic, and tools that search a dictionary can switch between them. By default a tool uses your interface language when it is one of these and English otherwise. Tools that work on text you type yourself, such as the letter mixer and the word-search solver, do not need a word list at all.
No. They list the words that match your letters or pattern, without definitions or meanings. To find out what a word means, use a dictionary.
