Frequently asked questions
We use the standard MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) formula: calories per minute = MET × 3.5 × body weight in kg ÷ 200, then multiplied by your duration. Each activity has a representative MET value drawn from the Compendium of Physical Activities.
A MET is a unit that compares an activity's energy cost to sitting quietly, which is 1 MET. Running at about 9.8 METs burns roughly 9.8 times the energy of resting. Heavier activities and higher intensities have larger MET values.
It is a reasonable estimate, not an exact measurement. MET tables use averages, so your real burn depends on pace, terrain, fitness, and body composition. Treat the number as a ballpark for general information, not as medical or fitness advice.
Yes. Switch the weight unit to pounds and enter your weight; the tool converts it to kilograms internally before applying the MET formula. Everything is computed in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere.
