It uses the Devine formula: 50 kg + 0.9 × (height in cm − 152.4) for males and 45.5 kg + 0.9 × (height in cm − 152.4) for females. A value is shown for any realistic height; the result only floors at zero if the formula itself would go negative, which happens well below typical heights (around 97 cm for males and 102 cm for females).
